Operation sweep, a new joint task force in the federal capital territory , has arrested 400 persons and impounded 50 vehicles for various offences in the city.

He said the task force personnel destroyed illegal structures and dislodged traders at the unauthorised parts of the Utako and Jabi axis of Abuja. “The clearing of illegal traders by the roadside around the markets became necessary because they constituted obstacles to the free flow of traffic and defacing the city.

While speaking, Kaka Bello, the deputy director of monitoring and enforcement at Abuja Environmental Protection Board , said that the operation was part of an ongoing exercise to keep Abuja clean.
