OpenAI's slowly building an AI empire, and it could make life difficult for anyone running an AI start up.
OpenAI have just announced the launch of their ChatGPT app store of sorts. With the capabilities for user to launch ‘GPTs’ across their new platform, it’s also caused some concerns for companies with apps built on the GPT API. The announcement introduces GPTs, which are “custom versions of ChatGPT that combine instructions, extra knowledge, and any combination of skills.” Examples displayed on the website include a Creative Writing Coach, Tech Advisor and even a Laundry Buddy.
According to OpenAI “early customers like Amgen, Bain, and Square are already levering internal GPTs” for their enterprise solutions. Companies will now be able to deploy a GPT which solves a particular use-case within an industry or business – meaning that you won’t even have to take advantage of the GPT-4 API to develop an AI tool. There’s no denying that the AI tool market is over-saturated, and the launch of a ChatGPT app store is either going to burst that bubble, or make it a lot worse.
