Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Umana Okon Umana, has urged newly inaugurated Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission to shun impulsive award of new contracts. The minister advised members of the board to focus on completing ongoing projects towards serving the people of the region and delivering the mandate of the Commission, adding that the process will help to repair the negative public perception of the Commission. He said: “The tasks before the New Board shall include a faithful implementation of the recommendations of the report of the Forensic Audit.
Members of the board include: Buhari’s Special Assistant on New Media, Lauretta Onochie, as the substantive chairman, from Delta State, representing South-South geopolitical zone on the board; Major-General Charles Airhiavbere from Edo State ; and Charles Ogunmola from Ondo State, as Executive Director, Projects.
