The Executive Secretary, Lagos State’s Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency, Dr Abiola Idowu, has said only accredited medical laboratories are allowed to conduct COVID-19 test in the s
tate.
Idowu, in a statement, stressed that the state government had only approved seven private laboratories namely: Total Medical Services, SynLab, 54 Gene, Medbury Medical Services, Biologix Medical Services, 02 Medical Services and Clina Lancent Laboratories to conduct COVID-19 test in the state so as to expand the testing capacity of the state.
She added that the agency had shut down Acouns Medical Diagnostic Laboratory Centre located at the Biporal Shopping Arcade, Banana Island, Ikoyi, for running COVID-19 test without government approval. She noted that the state government prohibited non-accredited laboratories from carrying out COVID-19 test, saying such a practice could endanger citizens’ lives.
Idowu stated, “The approved private laboratories were selected and approved by the state Ministry of Health to carry out COVID-19 test after a rigorous accreditation and validation process by HEFAMAA and the Lagos State Bio-Bank.All rights reserved.
