One person has been reportedly killed in a communal clash between Fulani herdsmen and indigenes of Lata in the Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
It was gathered that many sustained varying degrees of injur in the incident which happened on Sunday.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident, said normalcy had been restored to the area. Okasanmi said, “We learnt that some indigenes of Lata community in Patigi LGA accused Fulani herdsmen of riding motorcycles in a dangerous manner. The Fulani herdsmen were confronted and altercation ensued between the two parties. It was gathered that one of the Fulani men sustained serious injury during the clash that followed. We also learnt that the Fulani herdsmen left the scene to mobilise and came back for a reprisal on the indigenes of the area.
“When we got the information, the Commissioner of Police deployed some of our men in the area. Calm has been restored and our men are still there to monitor the situation.”All rights reserved.
