The International Press Centre , through its Safety and Protection of Journalists hub, has urged journalists and media practitioners covering the upcoming Ondo State governorship election to adhere strictly to professional ethics and prioritize their safety. In a statement issued on Friday by the Centre, IPC Executive Director Lanre Arogundade emphasized the critical role of the media in election processes and raised concerns about the safety of journalists that will be in the field.
He equally reminded journalists of the importance of maintaining neutrality during the election. 'Partisanship is not just about party membership but also involves avoiding expressions, statements, tags, symbols, or colors that align with a particular political party or figure.' The IPC director advised journalists to ensure they are properly equipped and accredited for the election duties, which is slated for Saturday.
