Okowa eases lockdown in Delta

Delta Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, Tuesday announced easing of the lockdown in the state to contain the corona virus pandemic with effect from April 30th.

He said, “In view of the foregoing, it has become necessary to partially lift the ban on movements within the State effective Thursday, 30th April 2020. This is to enable our people engage in economic/business activities between the hours of 6am and 7pm”.Okowa said the lockdown period enabled the State government break the chain of transmission while also assisting in “tracing, identifying, isolating and testing contacts of infected persons”.

Although burials and weddings were exempted from the restriction order, Okowa said social distancing rule must be applied, adding that the number of guests at such events must not exceed 50 persons.
