The Ohaneze Ndi Igbo has rejected Simon Ekpa as the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and reaffirmed Nnamdi Kanu's leadership. The group also expressed strong support for Kanu's release and questioned the relevance of other claimants to the IPOB leadership.
The Ohaneze Ndi Igbo has declared that it does not recognize Simon Ekpa as the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB ). The group confirmed its continued recognition of Nnamdi Kanu , who is currently in detention, as the true leader of IPOB . The Vice President of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, emphasized at a press conference that the group supports Kanu's release and believes that once he is freed, he will be able to guide them on how to proceed.
The group acknowledges that IPOB is not a one-man movement and looks forward to working with Kanu to achieve their goals. Ohaneze Ndi Igbo also questioned the group's concern about the arrest of Ekpa in Finland, emphasizing that they are focused on the release of Nnamdi Kanu as he is seen as the legitimate leader of IPOB
