The National Executive Council, of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has announced programmes for the burial of its President-General, Amb George Obiozor.
Ohanaeze Secretary General, Okey Emuchay, who announced the burial arrangement on Friday, shortly after an emergency meeting of the NEC at the national secretariat of the organisation in Enugu, said the late Obiozor will be buried on Friday, February 10, 2023, in his home town in Awo-Omamma, Imo state.
Emuchay said there will be activities prior to the burial of the late president-general, including a valedictory session at the national secretariat and other activities at the National Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island, Lagos and Abuja. He also said the burial committee will be chaired by former President-General of Ohanaeze, Gary Enwo-Igariwey, with the PG of Ohaneze Imo state, I.C Ihemedu as its secretary, adding that all members of NEC and other stakeholders across the seven states of Ohanaeze will also form the burial committee.
Emuchay further said that the Deputy PG of Ohanaeze, Joel Kroham, who died last August would be buried on February 4, 2023, in Rivers State, noting that this was the first time that the organisation was losing its president general and deputy at almost the same time.
