The traditional ruler claimed the Iselu kingdom still held Mr Okorocha in high esteem and advised him to accept the withdrawal as an act of God
The Eselu of Iselu Kingdom, Akintunde Akinyemi, on Monday announced the withdrawal of the conferment of Otunba Asoludero chieftaincy title on former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha.
The first-class traditional ruler also cancelled the installation ceremony which was earlier scheduled to hold on September 19. The withdrawal is contained in a letter dated August 9, signed by the monarch and addressed to Mr Okorocha, who is now an All Progressives Congress senator representing Imo West.NAN reports that Mr Akinyemi had recently pronounced Mr Okorocha as the Otunba Asoludero of Iselu kingdom in Yewa -North Local Government Area of Ogun.
The monarch had hinged the conferment on Mr Okorocha’s “exemplified track record of unifying different tribes across the country”. But in a letter he wrote to Mr Okorocha on Monday, the monarch explained that the chieftaincy title was withdrawn “in the interest of peace and harmony”.
