The Ogun State Government has said it is working towards getting the first tranche of the World Bank’s $5m grant to tackle erosion in the state.

The state Commissioner for Environment, Abiodun Abdul-Balogun, said this at a press conference in Abeokuta on Monday.

He said, “Environment is life, there is nothing you want to do without environment. As you know the rain is here and all of us in this part of the world, we know the effect of flood and erosion when the rain is here. For this year, the ministry of environment is taking steps for early preparations. Abudu-Balogun said the state government would tackle illegal dumping of refuse through private contractors.
