Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was on Saturday in Benin City, the Edo State capital, to grace the occasion of the conferment of Papal Knighthood of St. Gregory, the Great on a former Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, Dr Gaius Obaseki.
The ex-NNPC MD was honoured alongside 19 other personalities, including a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ferdinand Orbih; Andrew Agenmonmen, Johnson Aghedo, Richard Iyasere, Michael Enaboifoh, and Patrick Ezeli. On the occasion, Agatha Agenmonmen, Clementina Aghedo Dorothy IKheloa, Florence Eweka, and Patricia Uujamhan, among others, were also decorated.
Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were wife of Edo State Governor, Betsy, who represented her husband, Godwin Obaseki; the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, and his wife, Maryann; a former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke; and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
At the end of the event, Obasanjo was shielded by his aides as he moved towards his vehicle, waving at journalists who were disappointed not to get his opinion on national issues. All rights reserved.
