NYSC worried as erosion, decayed infrastructure threaten Abia orientation camp, state office

The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has held a lecture event to mark the 50th anniversary of the scheme in the country, with an urgent call for

The call was made by Dr Gift Candida, the Assistant Director, Human Resources of Abia NYSC office, while delivering the lecture titled “Five Decades of Fostering National Unity and Development”.

She lamented that many employers found it hard to pay corps members’ allowances or provide accommodation for them. In her own address, Abia State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Dick Ufuoma-Iruenabere, complained about decaying infrastructure at the scheme’s permanent site in Umunna Bende LGA, which she said has been under erosion menace.

“Immediate intervention is needed to implement erosion control measures to prevent further damage to the camp’s infrastructure”, she appealed.
