Mr Ben Osuagwu, former chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Imo State Council, has called for intervention from the Imo State Governor and Police Commissioner regarding the alleged sale of the NUJ Press Centre in Owerri.

A former chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ , Imo State Council, Mr Ben Osuagwu , has called on the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma and the Police Commissioner, Aboki Danjuma to intervene in the purported sale of the Union's Press Centre in Owerri. Osuagwu stated that the NUJ Press Centre , on the Owerri-Port Harcourt road, was given to journalists by the then military governor of Imo State , Commodore Amadi Ikwechegh, along with all official documents and titles.

In a statement he personally issued on Saturday, Osuagwu expressed dismay and wondered how some people would wake up after collecting money from some individuals and claim that they will sell the Press Centre to them. The statement read: 'Such a move is absolutely outrageous, insulting to the sensibilities of not only journalists in Imo State but to all journalists across the country and their noble friends and patrons.
