Exclusive: NSW set to impose mandatory registration of positive rapid COVID tests | Rabe9 marywardy

The NSW government has sought legal advice about the best way to ensure residents register their positive rapid antigen tests under new measures set to be introduced as it seeks to understand the full scale of the Omicron wave.

“At the end of the day it’s an obligation on all of us to make sure that we log in to the Service NSW app, particularly as it will give a clear picture of how the virus is moving through the community.” “I’m advised by NSW Health and Service NSW that we will have a system in place which allows people to register their positive RAT test and connect through to Health, and we’ve made the decision as a government that we will mandate that requirement,” Mr Perrottet said.

revealed last week that COVID-positive patients were already being cared for in private beds, with St Vincent’s Hospital reopening its “suspected COVID” ward in its private hospital and Ramsay hospitals caring for patients with the virus who presented in need of other care. Having announced exemptions allowing transport, agricultural and food production workers to no longer isolate if deemed close contacts, Mr Perrottet said the government would continue to look at expanding those settings.
