Developers have praised the Minns government’s first budget as its housing plan has primarily focused on upgrading infrastructure to make it easier to build.

The NSW government hopes its investment in upgrading infrastructure will accelerate the building of homes.The infrastructure component of the plan would be a “real opportunity to get infrastructure ready so homes can be built”, Urban Development Institute of Australia NSW chief executive Steve Mann said.

Property Council NSW executive director Katie Stevenson also praised the infrastructure focus but urged Landcom to work closely with private developers to build the $300 million worth of homes.
