A joint task force made up of men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Army and the police have intercepted a large number of suspected herdsmen coming from neighbouring states in the South-West to settle down in Kwara State.
The herdsmen were reportedly intercepted on Wednesday in Erin-Ile, in the Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, a border community between Kwara and Ila-Odo, Osun State.gathered that the cattle rearers, with a large herd of cows, were restricted to Ajase-Ipo in the Irepodun LGA, where surveillance was kept on them.
The Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in Kwara State, Afolabi Babawale, confirmed the incident on Thursday. He said, “On Wednesday, at about 0700 hours, suspected Fulani herdsmen, in their hundreds, were intercepted at Erin-Ile. It was a joint effort of the NSCDC, army and the police.”
