The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) apprehended 110 individuals accused of various crimes throughout 2024.

Operatives of the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ) arrested 110 suspects involved in various crimes across the state in 2024. The command stated that five of the suspects were arrested for alleged crude oil theft , 47 for illegal mining, and 58 for sundry offences. Efosa Ogbegbor, the command's spokesperson, disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday in Benin City while reeling out the achievements of 2024.

The suspects were arrested by the command between January and December 2024 across Edo State. The suspects were arrested for crude oil theft, illegal mining, and other sundry offences by the Intelligence and Investigation Unit of the command. In the year under review, the command was also involved in the detection and demarcation of danger areas like potholes on federal and state roads with the sole aim of averting any possible disaster, Ogbegbor also added that the operatives, in collaboration with the federal and state fire service, participated in firefighting operations, particularly in residential buildings, to protect lives and properties in the state. He assured that the command would not relent in its efforts to eliminate crude oil theft and other crimes in the state
