The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) plans to introduce special train services during Christmas and New Year to ease travel congestion and provide affordable options for Nigerians during the festive period.
The Bola Tinubu -led government, via the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), has announced plans to operate special train services during the upcoming Christmas and New Year festivities. The announcement was made by Yakub Mahmood, NRC’s Deputy Director of Public Relations, through the corporation’s official X account on Thursday. The services will be added to scheduled passenger trains and will aim to ease travel congestion during the holidays.
Specific dates and schedules for the services are yet to be released, but more details are expected soon. The NRC extended festive greetings to passengers, wishing them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. This year’s plan builds on last year's efforts, which included a 50% fare reduction for interstate travel and free train services during the holidays
