The National Primary Health Care Development Agency and the Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund have stressed the need to get more Nigerians vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Executive Director of the NPHCDA, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, during a working visit to the NSSF office in Lagos, said the accelerated vaccine campaign of the agency was geared towards aligning with the World Health Organisation’s target of 40 per cent vaccination rate by December. Shuaib noted that the meeting between NPHCDA and NSSF team was to align on vaccine campaign goal, objectives, interventions, and key performance indicators.
He said, “With only 2.9 million Nigerians vaccinated so far, we need to accelerate our campaign to encourage more Nigerians to come out and get vaccinated.Speaking on behalf of the NSSF, a board member, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, reinforced the commitment of the organisation for the vaccine drive with the initial disbursement of N56m to support the rollout in Ogun State.
He said the NSSF would be providing other in-kind support as the mass vaccination campaign kicks off in Ogun State.
