The top flight will now be known as the Nigeria Premier Football League, a departure from the old Nigeria Professional Football League.The Nigerian top flight had at different times been known as the Nigerian Premier League, Nigerian Premiership, Nigerian Professional League, Nigerian National League- First Division and the Nigerian Football League.
Meanwhile, former champions, Akwa United will host Bendel Insurance in the opening fixture of the 202/23 NPFL season on Sunday.The nine other matchday-one fixtures will take place next weekend.
