The North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement for Tinubu/Shettima 2027 was launched in Abuja to mobilise support for the President and Vice President, with the region targeting the highest vote total in 2027.
The North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement for Tinubu/Shettima 2027 was launched on Friday in Abuja at an inaugural meeting held at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
The movement is an inclusive political platform aimed at mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as other All Progressives Congress candidates across Nigeria's North Central region. Akume said the movement would focus on securing widespread support for Tinubu across the region ahead of the presidential election.

SGF Praises Echono For Grassroots Mobilisation
The principal objective of this movement is to canvass support and mobilise a massive turnout for Mr President in the 2027 election, the SGF said. He commended Arc. Sonny S.T. Echono for his initiative and contribution towards bringing the forum to fruition.
He stressed that the North Central's objective was to deliver the highest regional vote total for the President. Akume added that the movement would serve as a vehicle for taking the party's message to the grassroots and mobilising support across the region ahead of the general election. Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State described the initiative as timely and necessary, saying the region was better positioned politically than it was ahead of the 2023 election.
He praised Senator George Akume and the National Coordinator, Arc. Sonny S.T. Echono, for their roles in establishing the movement. Sule observed that the challenges ahead of the 2027 election were gradually receding, adding that the latest voter register indicated strong support for the APC in the North Central.
North Central Region Poised For Highest Vote Total
He expressed confidence that the region would deliver the highest number of votes for the President and other candidates contesting under the APC platform. He cited the presence of the SGF, the APC National Chairman and other key political appointees from the region as evidence of its strengthened political position. Echono said the objective was to coordinate political leaders and grassroots stakeholders across the six states of the North Central region.
The conversation is no longer simply about whether President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the North Central, but about the region positioning itself to deliver the highest number of votes to the President in the 2027 election, he said. Echono commended Akume, the North Central Governors' Forum and other critical stakeholders for their steadfast commitment and support for the Renewed Hope Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said the forum would serve as a formidable launchpad and strategic mobilisation platform, bringing together political leaders, grassroots actors and other stakeholders across the North Central under a shared vision and common purpose ahead of the 2027 elections. Also speaking, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the movement as the first of its kind.
Forum Adopts Resolutions To Strengthen APC Support
He commended Echono for the initiative and assured stakeholders that the necessary structures would be put in place to support the movement's mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election. At the conclusion of the meeting, the forum adopted four key resolutions to strengthen its mobilisation, communication, coordination, and reconciliation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election.
The meeting resolved to intensify electoral mobilisation and support for President Tinubu in 2027, with the stated objective of securing the region's highest vote total. It also agreed to organise a grand rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, alongside a medical outreach programme, to establish a Reconciliation Committee, and to hold town hall meetings across the region. Hon. Idris Wase moved the motion, and the APC National Vice Chairman for the North Central zone seconded it.
Publicity And Reconciliation Committee Strategies Outlined
On publicity and communication, the forum resolved that the Minister of Information would collaborate with State Commissioners for Information, State Publicity Secretaries, and state-level publicity committees to increase awareness of the initiative, with support from the respective state governors. The forum also resolved to establish a North Central-based Reconciliation Committee to work alongside the National Chairman, the SGF, and the NWC to address internal grievances within the party and promote greater cohesion among APC stakeholders across the region.
The meeting ended with stakeholders renewing their commitment to strengthen grassroots engagement, improve coordination among party leaders, and mobilise support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general election.
