North Central: Group begs APC to reconsider position

Reacting to the arrangement in a statement issued on Friday, the National Coordinator of the group, Malam Dawu Mohammed, described the zoning formula as unfair, unjust and inequitable.

Mohammed hinged his argument on the zoning of the Deputy Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives offices to the North West without any consideration for the people of the North Central. While describing the party action as an open act of marginalisation, the group said there was no amount of debate that can justify ‘a zoning script that does not answer to the very question of inclusivity, mutual respect and oneness for a nation with growing fault lines.’

He said, “We urge the APC leadership to have a rethink and save the APC from a possible implosion. We can have the offices zoned to give the various parts of the country a better sense of belonging to the country, other than what we have now. “The north central has performed so well in retaining the governing party, and the versatility lawmakers the zone can boast of should earn them the position of Deputy Senate President.”All rights reserved.
