Members of the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress from the North-Central have called on the ruling party to zone the position of the speaker to their area.

It was observed that Mr John Dyegh, who addressed journalists, was accompanied by only four others, while he signed the speech “for and on behalf of the APC North-Central Caucus.”

“It is in this regard that we humbly wish to appeal to our great party, the APC, to strongly consider the North-Central geopolitical zone for the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 9th Assembly.” Meanwhile, some politicians in the camp of the Majority Leader, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, have faulted the claims by those who believe that his emergence as speaker will further widen the political clout of a national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said, “We are also working on the political front. Someone said he was not friendly, another person said he didn’t do some things. We also know some outgoing members who supported Gbajabiamila in 2015 but are now bitter because they lost their re-election bid.

In a related development, some key leaders of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the Senate are already reaching out to the newly-elected members of the APC with a view to forming an alliance that would produce a ‘friendly’ Senate President.
