Some significant work on the province’s highways will be happening over the coming years, though no timelines have been given.to expand the TCH to a divided highway between Bishop’s Falls and Grand Falls-Windsor, as well as 40 km of highway west of Whitbourne.As well, both parties have committed to completion of the Team Gushue Highway, and the province alone is putting up $20 million for the extension of the passing lane leaving Port aux Basques.
Premier Andrew Furey wouldn’t give specific timelines, noting that there is a planning and procurement process they must go through first. Federal Minister Dominic LeBlanc says the work will be done as quickly as possible. LeBlanc says it will be done as expeditiously as possible, noting that’s one of the reasons why Ottawa wanted to partner with the province for the project.
