The third edition of the Edo Cricket League was rounded off on Sunday with No Limit Cricket Club upsetting Cricket Club to win the super four trophy.All the matches took place at the Edo Boys High School High Performance Center and Iyoba College in Benin, Edo.
The final match which was watched by Uyi Akpata, president of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, and Steve Tikolo, the national coach, had the qualities of top class cricket match.“I feel sure that the level of cricket on display would earn some of the players a look-in for national camp that would commence soon,” Akpata said.
Afani Abdulhamid, captain of No Limit Cricket Club, expressed excitement after his team was crowned winner at the expense of the defending champions. “When we left the first inning with 88 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs, it seemed we had locked ourselves in a tights corner. We had to dig in deep within us to produce the 18.2 all out at 68 runs that gave us the victory,” Abdulhamid said.In the south south female league super four that ran side-by-side, Smashers prevailed over Delta Force with 53 runs to be named winners.
UNIBEN Cricket Club picked the third place in the Edo Cricket League after they dumped Dolphin Cricket Club.
