Governors of southeastern states have come under heavy criticism for keeping mum on the predicament of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of
The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, said it is worried by the nonchalant attitude being displayed by the governors.
Nnamdi Kanu is currently under trial at a Federal High Court in Abuja and his state of origin, Abia, vowed to ensure that his fundamental human rights, as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, are respected. HURIWA also condemned the inaction of the governors to the spate of the killings allegedly being perpetrated by armed Fulani herdsmen in the region.
According to the human rights organisation, the governors had ended up deceiving the people of the region when they promised to set up the Ebubeagu Security Network which never saw the light of the day.
