The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, says the British authorities have rendered consular assistance to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu. It will be recalled that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) did not bring Kanu before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court on Monday to continue his trial bordering on terrorism among others.
The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, says the British authorities have rendered consular assistance to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Laing stated the IPOB leader has received Consular support of the British government being a British citizen while talking on Wednesday on Arise TV. Also, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’s lawyer, said during the Arise TV interview that operatives of the DSS harassed his colleague during their visit to their client in their custody.
“He should have access to his lawyers. And prison custody is the place recognized by law. The DSS told us initially that they were holding him for interrogation. Now, we are being restricted from seeing him in DSS custody.
