NIWA, Lagos bicker over mining laws
The National Inland Waterways Authority has expressed concern over alleged attempt by the Lagos State House of Assembly to tinker with mining laws.
The Managing Director of NIWA, Dr George Moghalu, in a letter to the Lagos State government, and copied to the Secretary to the Federal Government and the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Boss Mustapha and Rotimi Ameachi respectively, called on the former to caution the leadership of the state assembly, over what it descibed as a clear breach of the peaceful resolution reached between the agency and the Lagos State government over clash of interest on dredging and sundry waterway matters.
