NITDA begins digitalization of Agric sector, adopts 130 farmers in Jigawa

The National Information Technology Agency, NITDA, has commenced its programme to digitalize the Agricultural sector in Nigeria.

NITDA, in its move to turn Agric sector around, adopted 130 farmers in the National Adopted Village for Smart Agriculture, NAVSA, programme to provide Nigerian farmers with means to showcase their produce in the digital world market.The programme was initiated to systematically adopt farmers across the 774 Local Government Areas in the country in order to support and equip them with necessary skills that will make Nigeria one of the leading nations in digital farming.

They were also given smart devices, internet connectivity, seed fund worth 100,000 and Certified Seed during the official closing ceremony of the event that wasSpeaking at the event, the state Governor, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar appreciated the vision of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami for bringing the project to the state and promised to ensure its sustainability.
