A trailer carrying cows and humans on top separated from its main body and fell onto a pavement in Katsina State, resulting in nine fatalities and 21 injuries.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that at least nine people died and 21 others were injured in a road accident in Dankama, Kaita Local Government Area of Katsina State. The incident occurred when a trailer carrying cows and humans on top separated from the main body and fell onto a pavement. The trailer driver was attempting to avoid crushing a woman who had fallen from an overloaded Golf car carrying beans.
While trying to avoid the woman, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the trailer to detach. Nine people died, and 21 others sustained varying degrees of injuries. The injured passengers were taken to the Primary Healthcare Center in Kaita for medical attention. Some victims were transferred to Katsina General Hospital and the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina, due to the severity of their injuries. FRSC Sector Commander Aliyu Ma’aji warned drivers against carrying animals with passengers due to the inherent danger of this practice. He also urged passengers to speak up against overloading and dangerous driving to minimize road accidents
