Nigerians on micro-blogging platform, Twitter, have reacted to the suspension of the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele by President Bola Tinubu on Friday. The Twitter users in their various posts demanded prosecution of Emefiele, citing poor monetary policies and economic sabotages that characterised his tenure at the CBN. SaharaReporters had reported that President Bola Tinubu suspended Emefiele, from office with immediate effect due to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.Emefiele’s suspension was confirmed by Willie Bassey, the Director, Information, for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
Reacting to this, a Twitter user, Abraham Babarinde described Emefiele’s suspension as long overdue. He said, “The suspension is long overdue as we will not forget GE's tenure in a lifetime.”But to Aper Zava, the suspension of Emefiele was not enough, the sacked CBN governor should be thoroughly investigated and jailed for all the atrocities that had been connected to him.“He should be investigated over all d allegations against him,” another user, Andy also demanded.
He said, “@GodwinIEmefiele is a economic saboteur who destroyed our currency value. He should be held accountable for his actions.”Eduardo added that the Former President, Muhammadu Buhari and his cabals should also not be exonerated from the messy situation Emefiele was going through at the present time.
