A Nigeria n politician and former aide, Bernard Ekwote, has been invited by the police for alleged cyberbullying and cyberstalking over a Facebook post critiquing a statement made by his former principal, Philip Agbese, a House of Representatives member. The post in question addressed allegations of bribery involving Agbese and Binance , a global cryptocurrency exchange platform.

Ekwote's post highlighted contradictions in Agbese's denial of meeting with Binance executives, suggesting that his visit coincided with a meeting between the committee and Binance representatives. He further argued that Binance might struggle to provide concrete evidence of bribery as the alleged demand was oral. The police, citing intentional insult, provocation of public peace, and defamation of character, have also invited three other individuals who allegedly shared or commented on Ekwote's post. Ekwote, along with the three others, has engaged a lawyer who has requested a postponement of their appearance due to various engagements. The lawyer's letter stated that Ekwote and Obeya Isaac Oyile are currently in their respective villages in Benue State, while Michael Agbo, a postgraduate student at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, is presently defending his academic work. The case highlights the intersection of politics, social media, and the legal system in Nigeria
