The Nigeria Police Force, Edo State Command says it has raided cultist enclaves on the coastline and some maritime settlements in Edo State. It said eight different kinds of arms and ammunition with other incriminating items were recovered during the operation. Although it said no one was arrested during the operation, the command said the raid was in continuation of the ongoing onslaught on criminal hideouts and cultist enclaves in the state.

The police spokesperson said the raid which took place around 4.20 pm on August 26, 2022, was a sequel to the arrest of one Lawrence Yambo and his gang. Yambo and his gang have allegedly been terrorising Okomu riverine community in the Ovia South-West local government area of the state.
