This summary highlights key news stories from Nigerian newspapers, covering topics such as President Tinubu's stance on tax reforms, criticism of Peter Obi's comments on recent stampedes, a bus kidnapping incident, a mass killing in Plateau State, a murder investigation, and a hospital strike threat.

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed that the tax reforms initiated by his administration have come to stay. During the ongoing first presidential media chat, the president addressed mixed reactions regarding the tax reform bills before the National Assembly, stating that the benefits of the reforms far outweigh the concerns raised.

The Presidency on Monday attacked former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, over his comments on the recent tragic stampedes that claimed lives, including those of children, in Oyo, Anambra, and Abuja. Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication to President Bola Tinubu, Sunday Dare, said Obi was simply politicising the tragedies to achieve cheap points. Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have ambushed an Ado-Ekiti-bound 18-passenger bus at Emure Ile, kidnapping all the passengers on board. It was gathered on Monday that the incident occurred on the outskirts of Emure-Owo on Sunday night, at the boundary between Ekiti and Ondo states, as the bus was returning from Onitsha. No fewer than 15 people have been killed at the Gidan Ado community of Ganawuri in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, while others were injured and were now receiving treatment in a hospital. Locals said on Monday that a mass burial had been given to the victims. Police operatives in Delta State have exhumed the remains of one Paulinus Okon, allegedly killed by his close friend. This was confirmed by the state Police Commissioner, Abaniwonda Olufemi, when he briefed journalists. The Association of Resident Doctors, ARD, in the Federal Capital Territory has told the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, to meet its demands or face the ‘deadliest shutdown’ of hospitals in 14 days. The President, Dr George Ebong, issued the warning on Monday during a press conference at Wuse District Hospital, Abuja
