Nigerian newspapers: 10 things you need to know this Tuesday morning
1. The Peoples Democratic Party in a statement on Monday by its spokesman Kola Ologbondiyan called on President Muhammadu Buhari to tender his West African Examination Certificate to the presidential election petition’s tribunal.
3. Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno State on Monday confirmed that Senator Ahmad Lawan was President Muhammadu Buhari’s choice for the position of Senate President in the 9th Assembly. He said that although Sen. Ali Ndume was his kinsman, he would not defy the All Progressives Congress’ . 5. A man, 28, identified as Munabo Tonworio, of Oluasiri in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has allegedly shot dead his girlfriend over suspicion of cheating. The incident occurred on Sunday night at about 11:00pm. Tonworio, an indigene of Agada-Ama community of the same LGA reportedly shot his girlfriend, Victoria Ekalamene, in the face while answering a phone call from an unidentified man.
7. The Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, on Monday vowed that all the affected officers involved in recent cases of extra-judicial killings recorded in Lagos State would be charged to court and made to face the law. Mohammed said this when he paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, at Lagos House in Alausa, Ikeja.
