Nigerian newspapers: 10 things you need to know this Saturday morning
1. The House of Representative Committee which is investigating alleged misappropriation of funds in the Niger Delta Development Commission has summoned Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, to appear before it on Monday. This follows the appearance of the former Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Joi Nunieh, on Friday via Zoom.
3. The Federal Government has provided some specific guidelines for reopening of schools in the country. The guidelines announced by the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, on Friday cover four thematic areas. They include: staying home and learning safely before schools and learning facilities reopen; Reopening process; and conditions for safety when learning facilities are reopened.
5. The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Joseph Mukan, has asked Governor Nyesom Wike to hand over the former Acting Managing Director of NDDC, Joi Nunieh to the police. CP Mukan dismissed the rumour that efforts were made to reach him, insisting that no one reached out to him in connection to Nunieh’s arrest. He said the Governor was wrong to have whisked Nunieh away without recourse to the Law.6.
