The Nigerian government has released the final list of persons nominated to receive national honours. The list was published in national newspapers on Sunday by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and inter-governmental affairs. According to the publication, the awards will be presented by President Muhammadu Buhari on October 11, at an event scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre, Abuja. SaharaReporters reported last Sunday that the Nigerian government had dissociated itself from the purported list of nominees for national honours. The list had generated criticism, especially from the National Association of Nigerian Students , who described the nomination of the education minister as an insult to the Nigerian students who had been at home for almost eight months because of the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities .
