The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has underscored the importance of safeguarding the nation's telecom assets, now classified as Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII), following the Federal Government's Executive Order signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. NCC's EVC/CEO, Aminu Maida, highlighted the framework's significance in addressing challenges such as vandalism, fiber cuts, and restricted access.

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, EVC/CEO of NCC , Aminu Maida , said this at the launch of the Critical National Information Infrastructure Protection and Resilience Workshop in Abuja.
“This designation provides a framework to tackle key challenges like vandalism, fibre cuts, and restricted access to facilities,” Maida said. The EVC further stated that the telecoms sector has long struggled with these issues, which cost operators billions and hinder connectivity. He went to commend the collaboration between the government, industry players, and regulators, saying the initiative would ensure a secure and resilient communication network for Nigerians.
