However, the Director General of Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control , Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, at a press briefing in Abuja announced that the most populous African country has approved the use of the R21 malaria vaccine.The NAFDAC DG said during the briefing that the vaccine is indicated for the prevention of clinical malaria in children from 5 months to 36 months of age.
A group, #EndMalariaInNigeria on Tuesday described malaria as the “highest killer disease in Nigeria with over 10 million cases and 200,000 deaths annually, this amount to about 31.9% of the global Malaria indices”.
