Abiodun Adejola, Nigeria’s permanent representative to the United Nations, has been elected chairperson of the International Labour Organisation's governing body.

In his speech after the election, Adejola said he will ensure that President Bola Tinubu’s policies that affect workers and employers, align with global best practices.A diplomat for many years, Adejola has been Nigeria’s permanent representative to the UN in Geneva since February 2021, taking over from Tijjani Muhammad-Bande.He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in international relations.

He has also participated in certificate courses in diplomacy and international relations at the foreign service academy in Lagos, and at the UN in New York.
