Nigeria's home-based Eagles are back in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) after a four-year absence, facing a challenging Group D alongside defending champions Senegal and rising powerhouses Sudan and Congo Brazzaville.

Nigeria 's home-based Eagles will make their return to the African Nations Championship ( CHAN ) for the first time since 2018 after being drawn in Group D alongside Senegal , Sudan , and Congo Brazzaville . The draw for the eighth edition of the continental competition took place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. 19 African countries were divided into four groups of five teams each, with the exception of Group D which features four competitors.

Nigeria will face a tough challenge in their group, taking on defending champions Senegal, as well as the rising powers of Sudan and Congo. Kenya, in Group A, will play Morocco, Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia, while Tanzania, in Group B, will battle Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic. Uganda will face Niger Republic, Guinea, and two unnamed wild card holders in Group C. The identities of the wild card teams will be revealed after the second qualification phase of the competition. Originally scheduled for February, the tournament has been pushed back to give host countries ample time to finalize the necessary facilities. The African Nations Championship (CHAN) is a biennial competition exclusively for professional footballers playing in their respective domestic leagues
