Nigeria receives medical supplies worth $22m from UN
The Federal Government has received medical supplies and test kits valued at $22m from the United Nations.Basket Fund and the European Union is to help boost the fight against COVID-19 in Nigeria.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation and PTF chairman, Mr. Boss Mustapha, said the overwhelming support received from various international donors will help the country win the fight against COVID-19. The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, while thanking the EU, said it will add to the country’s assets to conquer the pandemic.“We have had a series of anxieties expressed by our health workers on the lack of PPE. We have assured them that we have reserves and stocks and friends to help us,” he said.
“We have supported the Nigerian government through the PTF, and the EU and the UN have stepped up and have agreed not to leave Africa alone in this time despite what’s happening in Europe.“It is beyond the provision of equipment, as it is also a means to dialogue and an identification of their genuine needs.”
