Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, has reiterated that the use of tint on vehicles in Nigeria is illegal and backed the ban remains despite a recent lift in February 2024. The enforcement of the ban has been suspended due to a halt in permit issuance.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has emphasized that it is illegal to use tint on vehicles in Nigeria, stating that the prohibition is supported by law. Olumuyiwa Adejobi , the Force Public Relations Officer , clarified during a response to an X user that while the enforcement of the ban had been suspended due to the halt in issuing permits, the law remains in place. Adejobi stated, 'There is a ban on it. It’s a legal matter because there is a law on it.

The police only suspended the enforcement of the law because we had suspended the issuance of the tint permit.' He also mentioned that the police might be discretionary in their enforcement to determine if the vehicle is being used for criminal activities. However, this statement is confusing as the NPF had lifted the ban on February 22, 2024
