The Nigerian Government has said that revenue generated from the country’s non-oil exports grew by 6.26 percent to hit $2.7 billion in the first half of 2024. The executive director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Nonye Ayeni disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday.
According to her, the new feat represents a significant growth from the $2.539 billion recorded in the same period in 2023. She attributed the growth to the Council’s “Operation Double Your Exports” initiative which has spurred growth in partnerships, advocacy, capacity building, and export intervention programs.
These efforts, she said, coupled with the successful transition of government in May 2023 and the policy initiatives of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda have spurred the rising volume and value of Nigeria’s exports. “It is noteworthy to state here that non-oil export revenue generated in the first half year of 2024 was 3.834 million metric tonnes representing the sum of $2.7 billion. This shows an increase of 6.26 percent as against the sum of $2.
