The Nation Newspaper Nigeria for Women Project empowers 75,545 women in Niger
Over 75,545 women have benefitted from the N60,000 grant from the Nigeria for Women Project and have formed 3,601 Women Affinity Groups under the Nigeria for Women Project in Niger State
Bello said Nigeria for Women Project is adopting the strategic operation of the project by creating Women Affinity Groups and social habitat in order to give the womenfolk a sense of belonging and empowerment.
One of the beneficiaries and a member of the Women Affinity Groups in Tufa, Rukkaiya Faruk, who is also a member of the Rice Processing and Marketing Collectives, said the group has afforded them the opportunity to network and explore the market for their processed rice, adding that the collective has branded its rice through unique packaging and brand name, Tufa Rice Processing and Marketing Collective.
The Chairperson of Sanasi Rice Processing and Marketing Collective in Izom, Hajiya Saratu said the Women Affinity Group has become a window to enhance women’s economic drive in society, adding that the impact of the empowerment to the Women Collective has ripple effects, as it has improved their standard of living and has improved the economy in their community.
