THE Deputy Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Kassim Alfa, on Thursday resigned from his office.

He tendered his resignation letter during plenary and was immediately replaced by the member representing Lavun, Jibrin Ba’aba.

Ba’aba was sworn in after his nomination by a member representing the Paikoro Constituency, Suleiman Rabi’u, was seconded and approved by the House. Recall that the House, had through a motion moved by Ba’aba last week, removed the Majority and Deputy Majority leaders of the House. The Speaker of the House, Abdullahi Wuse, who read Alfa’s resignation letter, did not state any reason for the lawmaker’s action.revealed that the recent drama followed a meeting held between the House leadership and the state governor, Abubakar Bello, at the Government House.
