A group, the Niger Delta Congress, has called on youths in the region to protect their states and communities amid rising violence and “gang killings” in the area.

The group called on stakeholders and representatives of the region to actively engage the youth in order to find a lasting solution to “the menace.” In a statement signed by its national spokesperson, Mudiaga Ogboru, on Monday, the group denounces “strongly all those who have allowed themselves become agents of sabotage and destructiveness within the region, whose activities are opposed to the socio-economic wellbeing of the Niger Delta.”
