The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has lambasted the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, for her recent comments on the 2022 flood situation in the country. The Bayelsa State government, had on Thursday, accused the Federal Government of failing the state in response to the flood that devastated the state.

Lamenting the devastation flood had done in the state, Governor Duoye Diri said that considering Bayelsa’s contribution to the nation’s economy, the response of the Federal Government to the flood situation in the state was not commensurate. She said Jigawa State, which recorded the highest number of deaths was number one of the states most affected by the disaster.
