Human Development Initiatives has begun the distribution of facemasks, hand sanitizers and hand-held radios to 6,000 children and adults in hard-to-reach areas of Lagos State.

The non-profit outfit, which is supported by the John D and Catherine T MacArthur Foundation, would distribute the items in two communities each in 10 Local Government Education Authorities between June 15, 2020 and July 7, 2020. A statement by Johnson Ibidapo, on behalf of HDI, noted that radios would be given to children in 450 households to boost their access to radio classes run by the Lagos State Government.COVID-19: TECNO Foundation supports health care workers, donates medical supplies to NCDC

A total of 450 households are targeted for reach with the hand-held radios, while 5000 persons would receive facemasks and another 200 will receive hand sanitisers with about 1,000 hand gloves up for distribution for the personal protection of beneficiaries, to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Children in government primary schools would be given hand-held, battery powered radios to support the government’s On-air school broadcast daily on radio. The general community members are targeted with facemasks and hand sanitisers.”Others are: Eti-Osa ; Amuwo-Odofin ; Ibeju-Lekki ; Ojo ; and Ajeromi-Ifelodun .
